Transportation

Airports. The closest airport is the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SeaTac, SEA), located approximately 18 miles (29 km) south of the conference venue. Other options are the Vancouver, BC, Canada (YVR) international airport and the Portland, Oregon (PDX) international airport. Both are approximately 160 miles (260 km) away from the ICML venue and require a 3-hour drive, 4-hour scenic train ride, or about a 35 minute flight (to SeaTac).

Flights. There are direct flights to SeaTac from all major cities in the US and Canada. Internationally, SeaTac has direct flights to and from Amsterdam, London (LHR), Frankfurt, Paris (CDG), Reykjavik, Tokyo (NRT), Osaka, Seoul, Beijing, and Taipei.

Between the SeaTac airport and the conference hotel. Ground transportation options from and to the airport include public transportation (bus), taxicabs, rental cars, shared ride vans and limousine service.

  • Public transportation bus ('Metro' Bus): Route 560 operates between the airport and the Bellevue Transit Center (final stop) in downtown Bellevue every 30 minutes on weekdays and every 60 minutes on weekends. The fare is approximately $3 one way. The Bellevue Transit Center is 5 blocks away from the Hyatt Regency Bellevue.
  • SeaTac has a full complement of car rental companies. The Hyatt Regency Bellevue charges registered guests $18/day for valet parking and $16/day for self-parking. There is no free parking in downtown Bellevue and parking is vigorously enforced.
  • Taxis from the airport typically charge a flat rate of about $40 to downtown Bellevue (where the conference venue is located). You may need to ask for the flat rate in advance.
  • Shared vans cost about $10-$20 one way to downtown Bellevue.
  • Limousine service is available for about $50 between the airport and the Hyatt Regency.

Between the conference venue and Seattle. Public transport is frequent and affordable. Express buses are operated by Sound Transit and have numbers in the 500s. Bus number 550 connects downtown Seattle and downtown Bellevue. Bus number 556 is a fast connection between downtown Bellevue and University of Washington. (So is 555 if you know what you are doing.)

Exploring. Denser connections are provided by King County Metro.
